ACCOMMODATIONS
The simplest approach to accommodations is to stay on lovely Texada Island and drive your youth to the Texada AeroSpace Camp at the airport in Gillies Bay.
However, if it suits you better, you can stay in Powell River and take the ferry each day. Camp starts after the 8:35 am ferry each day. This will be substantially more time and cost each day however, and there are lots of things to do on Texada Island.
A google search for July 14 to July 18 can be a good place to start, or a search with open dates on Airbnb for:
Camping
- Shelter Point Park is amazing for camping, even in the overflow area in Bella Maria. Even though there are no reservations, there has never been an instance when a family couldn't get a camping spot during the years of camp since 2009, and in that rare case, we do have back up camping.
Please note if you search for camping on Texada in general, Shingle beach and Bobs Lake will be listed but these are 40 min and 30 min respectively on logging roads each way. These are great places to visit for the day, or stay at before or after the Aerospace Camp, but not during camp.
